A Note from Meg:
“I’ll never forget my first catering job. I must have checked the packing list, food and schedule fifty times (I wish that was an exaggeration!) I needed to show these guests just how much I loved cooking and entertaining. That catering job changed my life. I quit the last job I had to cater full time and never looked back!
Cooking has been my passion since I was 13 years old and became my second career when I opened Made by Meg in 2007. A close second to my love for food, is my love for witnessing others experience joy. I love seeing how friends laugh together, how families celebrate one another and how food plays a part in that gathering.
Made by Meg is not just a catering company, but a practice in hospitality. We love our clients and have a deep respect for what they are trying to achieve with their event.
As you read through our menu, I hope it stokes the excitement you have for your event. Our team is ready to plan the perfect menu and our hand selected staff is ready to bring it to life!
Chef Meg started her professional life as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch and Smith Barney. After five years, Meg decided to pursue her passion for cooking.
She attended Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, CA at night and worked the stock markets during the day. Being a constant on the President’s Honor Roll throughout her training, she was honored to work in a Michelin Star kitchen in Los Angeles, Ortolan, with famed Chef Owner, Christophe Eme. After an exhausting but highly rewarding journey, Meg started her catering business to a warm welcome from friends to former clients.
Meg is a native to Manhattan Beach, CA and a Villanova Graduate. She continues to be a part of the South Bay community through the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club, WIPA (Wedding Industry Professional Association) and South Bay BNI.
Meet Our Team
Sales & Event Specialist
Alysa has been a Mixologist and Staff Captain for Made by Meg since 2013! She currently serves as an Sales and Event Specialist and is waiting to help you create your “dream event” with the tastiest of delights.
With a background in the performing arts and marketing, she has had the opportunity to perform and travel the world while experiencing food from various cultures. She brings her energy and love for people to everything that she does.
She looks forward to starting on her M.F.A at Cal State L.A this fall.
Senior Event Specialist
Angela is so elated to be a part of the Made by Meg team! She is a South Bay native and is pleased to be working in her hometown again. With over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry, she has extensive experience in catering, restaurant management and marketing. She loves working with people and putting together events to make every clients’ dream come true. When she is not working Angela spends most of her time in her kitchen, where she likes to pretend she is a chef.
Chef de Cuisine
Brian Benson graduated from Le Cordon Blue in Pasadena in 2004 and went on to work at Melisse in Santa Monicca as a chef de parte. He then worked for Disney at the Grand Californian Hotel, then moved to Disneyland Special Events as a Sous Chef and then Head Chef. He then went on to serve as a chef at the Montage in Beverly Hills before joining the team at Made by Meg.
Director of Operations/Senior Staff Captain/Event Producer
Kristy Gerbrandt is Made by Meg’s Director of Operations, senior staff captain and event producer and has been with the company since 2013.
She has an MA in Organizational Leadership/Social Science from Azusa Pacific University in 2005. After graduation she served as a District Coordinator for a non-profit organization which involved planning and executing large dinners, conferences and meetings at various locations.
When she relocated to Sacramento, Kristy took a position with a premier catering and events company as the lead Event Coordinator. Kristy’s love for catering continued as she coordinated event and food details with clients, hosted tastings, hired wait staff and ran both large and intimate events. Through networking, she began to hire and schedule staff for four other catering/event chefs in Sacramento. Upon returning to Los Angeles she found Made by Meg and joined our team.
